Two of my most favorite Ellenisms (her term, that is what she called them) are UFO (Ugly Fat and Old). She and I are definitely UFO’s.

The second one, the all-time winner, first prize Ellenism is:

“Yeah right, you expect me to believe that, right, I suppose you would also have me believe that Dolly Parton sleeps on her stomach”

In a recent phone conversation with Ellen’s cousin Sharon, she mentioned she was telling a friend of hers that Ellen and I were so much alike that either she rubbed off on me or I rubbed off on her.

I had never thought of that before.

The truth is, we rubbed off on each other.

Now that I think back, I realize there were many times I watched her interact with other people and I would think to myself, she is imitating me, some of my mannerisms. I know I picked up on many of hers.

So, the reality is, over the past twenty five or so years, Ellen and I became one person. We became each other. I love the mannerisms I imitate from her. And obviously she respected the mannerisms of mine that she adopted.

She is not only the most intelligent, but the wittiest person I have ever known. And if you take a look at my history, you will see I have been exposed to brilliant minds along the way. Ellen’s was the most brilliant I ever knew.

She attributed some really cute sayings to Jose (you can see his posts here on this website). I thought I had posted this before, but, cannot find it, so, here goes…………..She always referred to cats when they “kneaded mamas milk” on your arm or the bed or soft rug as, “star-fish paws”. And when a cat was showing a particularly bad attitude, you know the routine, strutting around, twitching their tail; she called that “cattitude”. And my favorite was “velvet paws”, that was code for get your claws out of my arm, please…………..

And every time she would use one of these cute cat speak, she would always add that they were invented by Jose.

As I remember more and more Ellenisms, I will add them here on this page………..
